I feel sad that this is how my desk looks all the time. Are those cobwebs? Ick. My home is not the most convenient work place. I always end up drawing on the floor in front of the tv. So professional.
I’m in pre-production on a couple of projects. It’s a love-hate situation when it’s at that stage. There’s so many directions the art could take and that’s where the agony can set in. Mostly due to knowing when I’ve made a wrong choice on execution. Then it’s whether I let the image go to chance in the process where most of the fun lies. It’s a conundrum you see.
Besides that however, I practiced making an different type of book art. I was at a friend’s birthday party and this girl brought a handmade book for scrap booking. It folded in such a way, I wanted to see if it held potential for displaying imagery in a pleasing manner. While I made several errors (I won’t bore you with them) and craftsmanship is far from perfect, I thought I let you guys be the judge:
I’ve also been recycling scrap paper and sketchbook backings and made them into mini-journals/memo pads.
Nothing to write home about, but I felt good that I got a chance to make what could easily be trash useful again. How very green of me.

This is very cool! I love the structure. Where did you learn it? Is there a pattern for it somewhere? Now I’m all curious about the roundish one in the background, too.

The roundish works are from a previous post. They’re small illustrations I worked on, so definitely check them out.
There is a tutorial! Unfortunately when I printed the article, I copied and pasted it to word first, so I don’t know the exact address of the one I found. However, you can just put in the words “flowerfold” “folding book” “oragami fold” or accordian fold” (the last one most times gets the other type of book) and you’ll probably get it that way.
